Windows 10 and a Webcam

If anyone comes across an external USB webcam that works well on Windows 10, I would love to know the make and model.....Please Smiley
Preferably a 720P resolution type with built in microphone.
I currently have a Logitech C270 which has performed well on Windows 7 but on W10 with any available driver it's a problem, hence the question.

My Logitech webcam works fine. Quite old now, not sure of resolution, Logitech QuickCam 3000.

Re: Windows 10 and a Webcam

I have a Logitech HD C270 (the same as yours?).  I have not used this extensively in Windows 10 but the microphone works fine to talk to Cortana and I took a still selfie.  Windows found and installed the drivers.
What problems are you having?

Re: Windows 10 and a Webcam

Usually the audio plays fast forward and sometimes both audio and video.
As I mentions elsewhere, a Skype call is out of the question because the other end can't make out what I say.
I discovered the Camera app in Windows 10 and tried that.
A recording a moment ago runs fast audio and video.
A run through various settings in 'Sound' and the Realtek Audio Manager without changing any settings.
It then works until I unplug the Webcam and reconnect it or do a reboot.

I tried two short recordings but the audio and video was perfectly normal.
Am I correct in thinking you have exactly the same webcam as me?

Re: Windows 10 and a Webcam

I wonder if you are recording in 15 frames per sec and playing back in 30?
Although how you would change that I haven't a clue!!!  Sad

Re: Windows 10 and a Webcam

@RR It is registered in Device Manager as an HD Webcam C270 if that's the same as yours.
@NedLudd Me neither.
I have had video running normally with speeded up sound and others with both sound and video speeded up.
It's a strange one to be sure.
Looking at the drivers installed there is a selection of Microsoft and Logitech entries present.

Re: Windows 10 and a Webcam

Interesting development.
Following advice in a Logitech forum I visited Control Panel > Sound > Recording > Microphone > Properties > Advanced and changed Default Format to 1 channel, 16 bit, 16000Hz (Tape Recorder Quality)...it was set on 48000Hz.
Recordings were ok...even after a reboot.....fingers crossed.

Re: Windows 10 and a Webcam

This is from the Device Information tab in Device Manager.  Does yours match this, Strat?
=== Start of device information =======================
Device name:           Logitech HD Webcam C270

A few small but significant differences.
Incidentally I went to select Webcam in Device Manager > Sound, Video and Game Controllers which is where it was located, but it wasn't there Huh
I found it in Imaging Devices which is where I presume yours is located.

Yes.  And it looks as if my model, although nominally the same as yours, is actually a bit different.

Re: Windows 10 and a Webcam

I'm not planning to update my Windows 7 devices until a lot more of the bugs have been ironed-out of Windows 10.
