I have a Windows 10 PC with Outlook 2013 installed. I would like Outlook to start minimised when Windows starts.
Microsoft advise creating a shortcut for Outlook.exe and copying it into the startup folder.....this I did.
Now comes the strange bit.
Upon starting my PC, Outlook starts minimised most times but there were many occasions when two copies of Outlook would start minimised.
So I removed the shortcut in the startup folder and then sometimes Outlook will start up minimised, other times it won't and has to be started manually.
It's not a major inconvenience but a bit of consistency would be welcome.

One of the recent MS updates started this behavior.
If Outlook is open when you shut your PC down, it will automatically open when you start you PC again. If it's closed when you shut down, it will not start. This also goes for IE and some other MS Apps.

Thanks @hangar18.
I did a little test and it seems to be the case.
All I need to do now is remember NOT to close Outlook before shutting down.

Then in the registry editor go to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
Delete any keys containing apps you don’t want run on startup.

I don't think this will work for the issue @Strat was referring to.
This new feature of windows cannot be overridden from what I believe.
