Still looks like everyone is going mobile, Do you have a touch screen on your MAIN pc? Do you want one???
This was the reason lots of people left Ubuntu or stuck with a "normal" release.

Installed the Consumer Preview yesterday on one of my 2 W8 systems......
I had to check my diary, I was convinced it's 1st April.
It is truly AWFUL.
I can vaguely see it might be useful on a phone, possibly on a tablet (but there are better options).
A big touchscreen PC - maybe not.
A desktop PC for home use - NO.
A business PC - ABSOLUTELY NEVER EVER!

No, I totally disagree, it will be a total abject failure.
Vista was just half-baked but vaguely going the right way and was eventually "fixed" by the "upgrade to viability" in the chargeable Service Pack 3 (Windows 7 to the rest of you).

That's quite a long time for a service pack to be supported then

7 will be supported for a while, I suspect that if 8 is released and looks like the preview then corporates will stick with 7 and force MS to support it for a very long while (like XP).

Quote Summary: This month, with almost no fanfare, Microsoft has revised its support policy for consumer versions of Windows. The two most recent releases, Vista and Windows 7, now qualify for a full 10 years of support. I’ve got the details.
Quote Support end date for Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7 are as follows:
Windows XP 4/8/2014
Windows Vista 4/11/2017
Windows 7 1/14/2020

I have been using the Developer Preview too, well I tried it for a month, it was truly horrible. I think Microsoft have made a big mistake with this OS, it's just not the straight forward OS that it always has been since around Windows 95 - Windows 7 which we have today.

I've seen comments about how it works (or rather doesn't sensibly) on multiple monitors.
