Win 7 : Moving non-s/w folders to new Partition/Drive

I want to move My Documents to a new Partition/Drive and My Pictures to another new Partition/Drive, maintaining the integrity of Libraries.
In another Forum, the response to the question "How do I move My Documents to another Partition" was :-
To move your documents to the D drive:

1. Create a new documents folder on the D drive.
2. Right-click the new folder and click Include in Library > Documents .
3. Click Start > Documents .
4. Double-click My Documents to show its contents.
5. Drag and drop the files to the new folder.
6. Press F5 to refresh the view.
7. Under Documents Library , click locations .
8. Right-click the new folder and click Set as default save location .
9. [Optional] Click My Documents and click Remove .
I'm a wee bit confused by the use of "Documents" and "My Documents" in this response and have failed to receive any comments from the Forum.
Is this procedure the best?  Please can you clarify the exact use of the Folder names and any other comments/tips?
Regards.....

Re: Win 7 : Moving non-s/w folders to new Partition/Drive

.....sorry to trouble you again, Old Jim, but just had a disaster!
I've successfully moved My Documents to it's new partition, however, I messed up the move of My Pictures.
I'm left without My Pictures in the Pictures Library.  How can I replace it?  If I try to add a new folder to Pictures, it's created in Public Pictures.
Can you help?
Regards....Noel

Re: Win 7 : Moving non-s/w folders to new Partition/Drive

I am guessing a bit as I don't know what you have done
If you open the library and right click on the Pictures Icon do you see something like this except that it is ticked as Public Pictures.
If so just delete it by right clicking on it and select delete.
Then right click in an open area of the library window and select New then Library (it is probably the only option).
Having got a new Library like the second picture then you can right click on it - select Rename to call it My Pictures
Then right click again and select properties and then select Optimise for Pictures then select Include a Folder and browse to your My Pictures folder and click on Include

Many thanks, Old Jim.  This looks OK, however, I've more work to do yet and not enough time to do it!
Anyway, I'll let you know.
Regards and thanks....

Re: Win 7 : Moving non-s/w folders to new Partition/Drive

Thanks to you, Old Jim, everything working ok.
I'm afraid that in these early days with Win 7, I hadn't realised the workings of Libraries.....Moral :  read the Start-up instructions first, not after!
Regards and thanks again.....Noel
