It is all done with javascript apparently and the code can easily be set to run automatically.
Note as far as I know there isn't an equivalent addon for Internet Explorer

Switched it back on having read the website although don't think that anyone would send me an e-mail and I don't get spam (luckily).

this is interesting -- it only detected 3 sites -- google, startpanic.com and (unfortunately) my bank's website -- whereas I have been around quite a few sites today which show up in my browser's history
I use Opera, with Javascript switched on.

It didn't show anything up at all so I thought that I had made a mistake or was missing the point.

That's what I do, and it works fine.
Strangely, the only sites that don'tpanic picked up on for me in FF was dontpanic and airmiles.
It didn't discover that I was here (even though it was sat open in a different tab)
Missed out a couple more too...

Quote from: pierre_pierre probably, but you can delete that as well click first go to end, shift and click, then delete, doesnt seem to be a simpler delete all
Somebody else who doesn't know about CTRL+A!
Click any line and hit CTRL+A to select everything - that works in loads of programs.
