Which wireless router to get?

Hi,
I've been using a D-Link DSL-904 for a while, but the sister in law wants it back as its been on loan from her.
Can anyone recommend a decent wireless router i can buy to replace it? I've heard that the netgear ones are pretty good.
The D-Link has been a bit tempremental so not keen to stay with them.
I'm also running Windows Vista, so need a vista compatible one.

I'm pretty happy with my Netgear DG834Gv2 (although I think they're on v3 now).  They're really easy to set up and I've always had good reliability.

Re: Which wireless router to get?

Thats the one i was actually thinking of.
Doesn't matter now though, the other half has told her sister that she'll buy the D-Link DSL-904 for £30. Which i personally think is a steep price, considering she wants the dongle and the stand back.
I keep expecting the router to stop working as i don't even think its Vista compatible.

I wouldn't expect there to be any compatibility issues if they're connecting via ethernet. USB sure, but it should just be plug and play if it's ethernet.

Speedtouch 585 Cheesy
Fantastic router, holds my line better than my old Dlink ever did.

Re: Which wireless router to get?

Netgear DG834Gv2 for me. Cheesy
Easy to setup and have had no problems at all with Wireless.
Many friends and family have this router now, and since setting it up for them, i don't get any calls saying 'wireless is not working' etc, and also no issues with the remote management.

I like the 585 and it has the advantage that you can tweak the noise margin. The only Netgear which allows this is the GT

Apparently the 585 v6 doesn't have this ability Sad

Do you know if the DLM Tool is compatible?  as this will allow you to do the same thing.

Re: Which wireless router to get?

DMT is compatible with the 585 providing you stay with firmware 6.1.4.3
That is what I use.

Should be compatible with mine then, I'll test it if I ever need to use it

Re: Which wireless router to get?

I'd recommend Belkin as well, as i use one and it's never let me down, and very reliable. however if you expand remember to keep all the equipment the same make, whichever brand you choose, else you will come across problems.
