What's going on with Spotify?

Just installed Spotify on a friend's computer and can't register - wants a 'token' or some such thing. Anyone know what is happening as it was pretty straightforward when I joined up? Have googled it but can't understand how to obtain the required invite for my friend.

because they have capacity problems they have, perhaps temporarily, limited new sign ups to invitation only.
If you already have spotify installed and working you should see something like this at the top

They could always try last.fm until spotify rectifies itself... (i prefer last.fm personally)

i havent got any invites oldjim an i signed up the day it came out of invation only beta.
i belive you get two invites every time you upgrade to preminum

I signed up during the invite period so I apparently have some left - if anyone wants one drop me a PM

So have you gone on the paid-for service oldjim? This sounds better VFM now as they are allowing downloading so I understand.
It seems that there are ways of signing up without an invite but you have to do a bit of googling I believe.

do you mean to say that you cant download on the free spotify, even with the adverts?

Correct - downloading is only available on the £10-a-month premium plan.
