I'm looking to buy a router that supports no-nat so that i could use static IPs. When im looking at the spec's of a router i can't seem to work out what im looking for that would allow me to do this. I'm looking to get a GetNet GA-324A as a temp solution, i believe this would do what i want.
It will be difficult to find this information listed in the specs for most routers. I do know that the Netgear DG834 and other good brand name routers do have this option although may not be immediately obvious in the settings. Remember if you use no-nat you will be limited as to the number of machines on your network by the number of public IP addresses you have. Consider a second hand Cisco 837 from eBay. With that I have been able to use NAT for desktops etc. on one public IP while having my web server listening on a second public IP.
