Weird weird weird

I belong to a few forums. On one and AFAICS only one sub forum recent original posts are in invisible, but if you quote or reply to them the posting screen reveals the hidden post. In turn your reply is invisible togeterh with the quoted post. The problem does not seem to exist on other forums.
I'm completely mystified.

Normally this happens as you havent logged in or you are a guest when you login and become a member you see all posts. If you just go in maybe any cookies have been deleted

I am more or less permanently logged in. Funnily although the posts made last night are still invisible. One made this morning is showing as normal, without the subterfuge of setting it to be quoted, Overnight virus scan revealed nowt,
