Just read an article on this in the Daily Telegraph.
Apparently, the FBI have been running servers to prevent infection but they are switching their servers off next Monday 9th July 2012.
The article begins "Could the internet really shut down?
Thousands of users around the world are likely to lose internet access on Monday thanks to a virus called DNS Changer.................."
It continues"When it turns it off on Monday, some 350,000 people will lose their connections, of whom around 20,000 live in Britain."
SHOULD WE WORRY, DO WE HAVE TO DO ANYTHING OR WILL PLUSNET "PROTECT" US?????????

Thanks for the link BenG (and for the merge OldJim - did a search for DNS changer and only found an old reference (April)).
Just did a quick check using the link and again, it comes up green which appears to be all ok.
Thanks a lot.

This isn't exactly a new virus.. The FBI shutdown the botnet in November of last year and have had their own servers in place.
It's these servers that are being shutdown, which could affect 300,000+ users http://www.theregister.co.uk/2012/07/05/dnschanger_botnet_shutdown/.
