Wanting Outlook express back

I was quite happy and used to using Outlook Express
My new computer has Vista which incorporates Windows Live Mail. I really don't like it and I can't find a way to uninstall it.
It wont let me install Outlook Express because of Live Mail being there
Does anyone have a solution?
Thanks

Re: Wanting Outlook express back

Use Firefox, and Thunderbird, as an alternative.....

Re: Wanting Outlook express back

I did a mini survey to see what was the most popular email program here and Thunderbird was clearly in the lead.
I've used it for several years and can recommend it too.

Wouldn't a Support Library article be helpful.

Re: Wanting Outlook express back

Thanks
I knew about thunderbird but I thought I'd look for what else is on offer.
I guess there were things I preferred about OE mainly because I'm used to it
I think from the look of it Live Mail is just a bad cloning of Thunderbird. Its rubbish
I think I'll go with thunderbird and try to get used to it

Re: Wanting Outlook express back

I've starting writing a guide on setting up Thunderbird in the Support Library.
It's really straightforward but give us a shout if you get stuck.

Re: Wanting Outlook express back

Thanks to all who tried to help.
In the end I downloaded Opera 10 to give it a try.
It works a treat.
I like it better than thunderbird but I'm not giving up Firefox

Re: Wanting Outlook express back

Hmm... Vista incorporates Windows Mail, not Windows Live Mail (WLM, formerly Windows LIve Mail Desktop) .
You would not have WLM unless you had installed it (free).

WLM is (broadly) Outlook Express with a new front-end and built in facilites to synch local calendar and contacts with Windows Live (central) ones which are also used by Hotmail. You can also synch your Inbox etc with Hotmail maiboxes.

Re: Wanting Outlook express back

WLM also gets around all those odd restrictions on POP access to Hotmail accounts.
Been using it for quite a long while now, alongside Outlook; it has it's place and isn't that bad really.
