Voip as intercom on plusnet hub one

Hi all, I need some pointers to set this up, I have a 'power over Ethernet' setup in the house, this includes the garden room at the bottom of my 200ft garden, I have two Voip phones i picked up cheaply and would like them linked on my hub to act as an intercom between the house and garden or visa-versa, is this possible, if so any pointers would be helpful to a nube. I have no plug and play driver disks or setup instructions for these.

thanks in advance

Why be all "techy" about it.... why not buy a pair of PMR units... like this...

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2Pcs-8-channel-PMR-system-Walkie-Talkie-2-Way-Radio-3km-range-LED-lamp-Bla...

You could use them anywhere... i.e. missus in shopping mall... you in pub...  ....  these have a range of 3 km  and would certainly be able to cope with a 200 ft garden  !..

Re: Voip as intercom on plusnet hub one

Hi,

Normally you need to register VoIP phones with a sip server. You MIGHT be able to use the ' hot line' facility of those phones to specify the other phone"s IP address. Start by looking at the configuration guide here https://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=http://edocs.mitel.com/UG/EN/5304_SIP7.2_UG_F...

I'm afraid it's not going to be simple though...

Re: Voip as intercom on plusnet hub one

VOIP phones like that need to be used with a "VOIP Phone Exchange" of some flavour....  so you won't be able to use them as a direct intercom.

However, you might be able to use them with a VOIP service..... take a look at www.sipgate.co.uk. Whilst they primarily offer a PSTN to VOIP "gateway", I believe that you CAN call voip to voip.

**Stop Press**

just found this:

https://docs.switzernet.com/people/emin-gabrielyan/070405-budge-tone-without-sip-server/

shows how to make a pair of (another make) voip phones call each other, you might be able to do the same with yours
