Vista opening links automatically

My new HP laptop runs on Vista.  If I move the cursor across the screen slowly it has a habit of opening some of the links it moves over.  The same happens if I place the cursor on a button such as delete.  How can I adjust this so it only opens a link if I click on it?

Could be the sensitivity of the touchpad is set a bit high so a minute change of pressure is registered as a tap. You should be able to adjust it in the Control Panel.

Thanks for that Denzil.  I'll check it out but I think it happens with a remote mouse as well.  I know others who complain of the same problem so will investigate further.

My neighbour had this problem, and IIRC it was cured by going to Start > Control Panel > Mouse > Activities and disabling 'ClickLock'.
That was with XP - presumably it's similar with Vista.
