Vista laptop loses internet after reopening lid

I don't ever have issue on my XP laptop ie resuming internet activity after having shut lid for 10 minutes, but persistently
my Vista ones loses connectivity after same action.
Searching www I see others see it as an issue too, just on Vista, and some reckon it's to do with Vista's DHCP
set up.
Closing my Vista laptop is not set to suspend or hibernate; I was wondering if setting up alternate configurations
Tab would help.?
Currently only way to reconnect to internet (it sees router) is to reboot each time.

Have you set up power management to not shut off USB when the lid is closed?  On my laptop my wi-fi card is considered a USB device so when the lid is closed Windows could power off the device for you which naturally means you lose internet connection.

There are myriad problems with wireless network devices not coming out of hibernation properly in Vista.

Why not stick a bit of wood into the hinge to prevent it closing properly?
You wouldn't have any problems then.

Glad/sad to see it still hasn't been fixed in 3 YEARS. This was what made me leave M$ OS's behind, my box wouldn't see the network when I switched it on

Hmmm.....
Didn't someone in another thread say (politely reworded) that if you don't know the answer it's often best not to contribute.
(Hint: This Linux vs MS stuff is getting rather pathetic all round)

What I said was 100% TRUE I got so fed up of having to reboot after switching on I moved. I may have staid with XP but I moved on, why cant you ?
