It's worse for me - 745MB is just too much to contemplate

Next time I have a hardware order I will stick this onto it linky for 59 pence

It's highly likely that it will be on free DVD's on the front of magazines very quickly!

Re: Vista SP1 Released

Installed it last night. Around 64MB download and 45 minutes to install including the odd reboot.
It's not available on windows update until all other required updates are installed.

Re: Vista SP1 Released

I'll wait until Microsoft send it to me on DVD as part of my "Action Pack" subscription next week.
They're also allegedly sending out the "proper" Vista Ultimate in April (or so they say!)

Got mine last week from MSDN.  Only took 20mins to install and haven't had any problems (yet!) Smiley
Download was about 400MB

Re: Vista SP1 Released

Download was just short of 400MB for me and has installed without issues. Left it doing it's stuff when I left the house this morning and by the time I got to work it had installed and I was able to remote desktop to my machine. I normally have really bad luck with things like this so relieved all went without hitch! *touches wood*

Re: Vista SP1 Released

I followed the on site advice and didn't download the full administration package. I just let Microsoft update do it's stuff hence around 64MB. It did advise an up to 1hr install but mine finished in around 45 minutes.

Re: Vista SP1 Released

i installed the sp1 on home prem vista runing on a  laptop which is lacking power ie 1g of ram and 1.73ghz celeron and i think it was about just over an hour to install. think windows update sayed it was 63mb in size.
all seems to be runing fine ie same as before.
i hope that they have sorted somthing that will speed up file tranfer speeds on home networks as i use two old mac mini's as hard drives.
i did read somthing that said they had done somthing along these lines awhile ago.

I read in a recent mag that initial testing showed a slower or a quicker transfer depending on file size.
Time will tell on that one Undecided

Re: Vista SP1 Released

i think before sp1 i was tranfering to my mac mini at 800k/Bs that is ethernet from laptop to voyager 210 and usb from 210 to mac mini.
is this limit of usb and to get faster speeds would i have to get a hub or a new router with more than one ethernet port
