Vista 64 bit used disk space

I am puzzled - when I open My Computer and right click on the C: drive and select properties I get used space 29.8GB but when I select all the contents and do the same I get 24.9GB
The swap file is set as 250MB maximum size so where is the other 4.9GB hiding
Please ignore - it is the space currently used by system restore

The space reserved for storing 'restore' information? Or Space reserved for the Recycle Bin? I seem to remember you can alter what is reserved for both of them.

Re: Vista 64 bit used disk space

It's the space for system restore which is the minimum of 15% of disk volume or 30% of free disk space by default
Altering it is not easy like it was in XP as you need to use a command line instruction

http://bertk.mvps.org/html/diskspacev.html
For recycle bin just right click on the icon and select properties
