This one has got me stumped.....
Standard BT broadband with Netgear DG834PN router which is totally default/open (remote cottage and the owner isn't bothered, just wants it easy).
Two laptops - the XP one works fine wirelessly, the Vista one won't.
The Vista laptop sees the router wirelessly but can't connect, so it's connected by LAN cable.
BUT Internet Explorer fails to find any web sites, it won't even see the router admin page! Settings look totally normal.
Firefox is installed and works fine, so we've switched to using that for web browsing.
Email (Windows Mail) works fine as does (dare I say it) Norton 360 re getting updates.
Windows updates come in OK too.
So I'm guessing something on the networking side is corrupted, but what and how to fix it?
Or is it yet another symptom of the dreaded "Norton Virus"?
Has anyone got any suggestions?

try the thunderbird email client. could be that pernicious norton software blocking email, or it might be vista's much vaunted 'security' modules.
