I know it's advisable to use genuine Epson cartridges but I succumbed and have been using compatible cartridges.
I seem to have paid the price because the wired network has failed.
Fortunately the wireless connection is working fine so it's business as usual.
You wouldn't think a non-genuine cartridge would have such consequences.

I don't use the printer daily so wouldn't notice a problem immediately.
I don't imagine it's possible to 'roll back' the firmware to an earlier version.
Still, as I say it works fine on Wi-Fi.

Whenever my laptop loses it's wired and goes wifi I always reboot it and the router, that usually sorts it out.
Or, in Device Manager I disable and re-enable the Network (wired) card!

Is printer ink conductive, If so I guess some could have leaked and shorted something out but it's a bit of a long shot.

The wired ethernet on the printer has died and the printer config screen tells me no wired network connection is available.
If I power cycle the printer with Wi-Fi disabled I get a brief ethernet light on the router.
No connection is then available and the printer shows as offline.
I'll have a play tomorrow.

Not the best firmware / software in the market. Plus, they might work with other makers carts... or not... or print it all in magenta
I assume the firmware update was on the printer? A firmware updgrade will often default a devices settings. Is your router seeing the printer on the LAN? Check the connected devices option on the router management pages. Do you have any firewall rules or port mappings to that device? Or does the printer have a 'WiFi preferred' [by default] setting on it's management pages?

No firewall rules or port mapping.
This morning I....
Removed the printer from Devices and Printers.
Restored Default Settings on the printer.
Rebooted the printer with ethernet cable attached and it's now working again.
Next time a firmware upgrade rears it's head I'll keep a close eye on things.
