Use Modem/Router to Copy Files ?

I have recently joined Plusnet and was provided with the Thomson TG585 v7 Modem/Router - very easy to set up. My desktop PC (Vista SP2) is connected with the ethernet cable and my notebook (Win XP SP2) is connected wirelessly. Everything is working fine for internet and email. Can I use this set up to copy (share) files between my PCs ?  Is there a help page/tutorial to set this up ?  Thanks

Yes you can do it.
No AFAIK there isn't a tutorial however basically you are setting up a network however getting Vista and XP to talk to each other could be a little tricky. It should be easy but sometimes it just doesn't do what it should.
Have a read of this http://www.kelsoconsultinggroup.com/networking_vista_xp.asp

Re: Use Modem/Router to Copy Files ?

Thanks, Oldjim.  I have tried to follow a couple of tutorials I found on the web and I think I did everything correctly and understood most of it !!  But at the end, it just wasn't working. I will try the one you have suggested, thanks.
