Usb memory stick

Hi folks,i have a problem with my usb stick not being recognized it lights up when plugged in to usb port but windows pop up message says it has malfunctioned and windows does not recognize it.
It has worked before and has just stopped,it also works in my laptop but not on main computer,my other usb stick works fine when plugged in to the port also so stuck for ideas.

If it works on the laptop I'd probably copy everything off the stick onto a folder there, then use the laptop to reformat it. Once it's reformatted try it in the desktop, and if it works there then you should be fine to put the files back onto it

Cheers for reply matt,thought everyone had gone,will try will laptop when its fixed the screen decided to go on it over xmas lol

Are the any OS updates waiting to be installed? ...................Found in the past the USB ports sometimes get disabled when updates are waiting to be installed.
