USB stick....32 or 64 bit?

Does anyone here know how I can identify a USB stick as 32 or 64 bit, please? I need the latter for an in situ Windows upgrade, so also am thinking where I can safely buy one.

No one has to agree with my opinion, but in the time I have left a miracle would be nice.

Re: USB stick....32 or 64 bit?

From a point of ignorance I have no idea what you want as a USB stick is basically a data storage device and isn't any different when used on a 32bit or 64bit system

@Luzern - @Oldjim's right, storage is storage, the only thing you need to consider is the formatting of the device, so in your case FAT32 would suffice.

Edit:- For clarity that does not make it 32 bit but makes it readable by Windows and other OSs as well.

Re: USB stick....32 or 64 bit?

The early pages of this tutorial under "Note" gives the reason for my thread, and your replies seem to contradict. Before reading it I had thought the same as you.

Edit Reading a bit more FAT64 is an informal name for the exFAT file system,

Re: USB stick....32 or 64 bit?

What they actually mean is an ISO or USB device containing 32 or 64 bit software.

Re: USB stick....32 or 64 bit?

Fix

Read it again - it's the appropriate ISO for your operating system you need 32bit or 64.

Re: USB stick....32 or 64 bit?

As others have said.... A U.S.B. Stick is just a place to store your files... same as a Hard Drive...

Put it simply.... Imagine a cupboard with a wooden shelf inside it...    ( the USB STICK )... on that shelf, you can store files in small print and large print... the same file, but in different size prints... ( 32 bit windows or 64 bit windows )..

So then, why does that site write, as it does, and for what reason? I'm puzzled!

Re: USB stick....32 or 64 bit?

I think it actually means a:

32 bit version of the installation on either ISO or USB

or

64 bit version of the installation on either ISO or USB

The 32 or 64 bit referring to the installation itself rather than the ISO or USB

Edit: removed the word media as it confuses the issue

That last bit seems a bit harsh. I'll call the episode a mixture of bad interpretation and octogenarian senior moment.Smiley

Well in the context of addressable space it would be 64bit.
