USB Mouse Connection problem

This is an odd one.
Mouse is a Logitech MX518
Operating system Windows 7 64bit
Ever so often I noticed that the mouse froze and there was the noise of a USB device connecting.
OK - first though is the mouse has developed a fault
Then, after playing about a bit, I noticed that it happens every time the Current Cost Energy monitor updates to the computer using the Techtoniq Energy Station via the USB connector from the device via the Prolific USB-Serial Comm Port
Is there any way of looking for USB port conflicts

What about looking in the device manager?

Re: USB Mouse Connection problem

I should have added that it doesn't happen all the time.
Nothing shows up in Device Manager or the Event Log

Re: USB Mouse Connection problem

I had similar recently, the MX518 was dying which it did finally after 4 days after it started powering off randomly.  Try another usb mouse and see if it still does it.

Re: USB Mouse Connection problem

Just switched to my old MX3 and will see what happens.
If it is the mouse I will probably just buy a Logitech G400 but I may try Logitech warranty although this would be the second failure - this is a warranty replacement

Re: USB Mouse Connection problem

I've found USBDeView from http://www.nirsoft.net very useful in the past. For some reason the utils pages of his website seem not to be working. All of the download links I've found seem to point back to his site.
I have a zip of v1.89 if you want to PM me an email address.
