Occassionally when I plug in a usb device I get the message that this device can perform faster with usb 2. I understand that usb 2 support came with XpSp1. Now these (2) pc's are brand new and usb 2 ports were specified. Any body got an idea how to either find a Ms usb 2 driver or what is it that I have to do to enable usb 2?

Sounds very odd indeed, any new PC would have USB2 ports and the drivers are a standard part of XP. What make & model of PC is it?
You're not going via an external hub or potentially faulty cable are you?
I'd probably go back to the supplier if they're under warranty.

most pc now come with all usb 2 but a lot come with 6 usb ports with only 2 being usb 2.
The problem is uless they have marked which is which on the case you dont know which they are.
It will depend which is connected inside.
The only way is to try every usb and see when you dont et the message and then you have found the usb2 port
