UK Ex-Pat Satellite TV Services curtailed

Many of the UK top TV and radio channels moved to their new home on the Astra 2E satellite last week.
Many people who watch and listen to the BBC, ITV and Channel 4 and 5 services from outside the UK from these satellites now can not get a signal.

There are however ways and means of proxy viewing UK TV over the Internet from outside the UK
I'm not going to mention them here, as their legality is dubious.

Except when on holiday, this is not going to affect many Plusnet customers, is it?  Also

BBC and ITV in Europe: broadcasting without permission
It's only been a happy accident that expats and our European cousins have been able to pick up the BBC and other British channels - even if you're an expat with a UK TV Licence, the BBC doesn't have permission to broadcast outside the UK.
That's because the copyright for film, sports and TV is sold on a territorial basis, and BBC Worldwide makes a lot of money reselling BBC shows to subscription channels on European TV, and that money goes back into the BBC's programme-making funds.

If you are away from home and want to watch your home TV then something like Slingbox http://uk.slingbox.com/get/placeshifting-benefits should do the trick and (although I'm not an expert) I don't see that that is at all dubiously legal.

Re: UK Ex-Pat Satellite TV Services curtailed

Don't forget, quite a few (older ?) people go to Spain, or elsewhere in Europe  etc for a few months in the Winter.
Perhaps there's even a few here !
Or even people visiting relatives in the EU for extended periods of time
I'm sure there may be many such related instances.
In which case, Google is indeed your friend
plus, from 2013

... which is why I gave a link to a (hopefully) legal solution for such people.

Actually it happened in February! http://www.a516digital.com/2014/02/bbc-moves-satellite-services-to-astra-2e.html
BCC moved their broadcasts on the 6th Feb and ITV moved on about the 12th. I know first hand, we were in Portugal at the time. Arrived on the 8th Feb to discover no BBC , 'well ok there's still ITV' , and then that went a few days later!. That left only the Sky channels which are still on Astra 2A.
