I think someone recently asked the question about transferring slides to a computer, normally I used a Epson Perfection 2480 for the job but unfortunately despite upgrading the software no way would it scan the slides so I had to resort to purchasing a stand alone slide scanner, for what few slides I had the idea was to purchase the cheapest device available which I did,

Works fine and am well pleased with it, used with Windows 7 (64bit) ? may also work on linux but not tried that yet.
Final Point this offer finishes on 31st December so be quick !!

Thanks for the link.
I don't have many slides/negatives to scan so haven't wanted to pay out a lot of scudos. This seems just the ticket. I have reserved to collect tomorrow.
