Tiled printing

I'd like to print a photo to A3 or even A2 size using an A4 printer.
Does anyone know of a cheap (free) program to do this?
I do have PhotoPlus X5 which, apparently, can but the instructions are not that clear.

Photo editing programs are great for, er, editing, but I've always found it easier to insert into a blank Word doc for resizing and printing.
Physically, I can't see how an A2 sheet is going to fit into an A4 printer.

my cheapy Epson will split up the A2 image and print it on to four sheets

I think maybe I've misunderstood the concept of tiled printing. 
I'll hide under this rock - carry on chaps...

Sorry, I said A4 or A2 from A4 in my OP but I meant A3 or A2 from A4 printer (changed it now).
Just done a test (it's for SWMBO) using the PDF method above and it seems to work a teat and she's a happy bunny. How long will that last

IrfanView lets you resize to anything, and you can then send it to the printer without saving it
