Thunderbird on a Domain

Just rebuilt an XP PC on our network and I thought I'd go Open Source for office and email.
Thunderbird was duly downloaded and installed.
It's a pity it doesn't have a 'Connect to Exchange Server' option like later versions of Outlook but it's working more or less as expected.
Open Office is now installed and again connecting Calc to SQL Server is not as straight forward as later versions of Excel.
There will be questions in due course for the Enlightened Ones on the forum to answer. Undecided Smiley

Exchange Server:

Careful though that you use MSWindows active directory authentication or POP3/IMAP4 over SSL/TLS.  Otherwise passwords will be transmitted in cleartext and someone is bound to get hacked . . .
OpenOffice Calc with SQL:
Not sure if this is of help: http://grass.osgeo.org/wiki/Openoffice.org_with_SQL_Databases
Otherwise shoot a post at the OpenOffice forum - they're usually pretty helpful.
