Thehook

Hi All,

Running Windows 10 on an old laptop.

Using Chrome I have started to get pop ups that is from Thehook.com. Seems to be some key something software / malware. I have run Malwarebytes and still there.

Hunted round on the web with nothing firm.

Any suggestions to remove please?

Re: Thehook

It's an advert.

They "lease" instead of selling domain names.

Re: Thehook

1. Add an adblocker to your browser

2. Set your browser to block all 3rd party cookies

3. If possible, don't use Google as a search page, try something like https://duckduckgo.com which does not track your searches made by your browser.

It may take time for all the information that has been gathered about you to become sufficiently stale to affect the level of spam adverts.

Note that the Chrome browser is a Google product - but all browsers have some kind of tie-in to the money-making side of advertising, to some extent.

I use Firefox with the uBlock adblocker installed & I don't see very few adverts.

I even have the adblocker turned off for a few sites which I approve of!

Might be worth checking your cookies for the offending item (and deleting them, if found).
