That darned usage bar graph

Maybe it's just me, but I really dont understand the Usage Bar Graph.
I look at it every few days to see how much of my 1Gb I have used. What I don't get is why the data is made up of both FREE & PAID-FOR stat's?
Why does FREE usage count against my allowance?

It doesn't, but it is there to actually show you your full usage, peak and off-peak.
The dark section is your peak time usage which corresponds to the peak time usage box and is the figure that is important.

There should be a breakdown of peak and off-peak in figures below the graph too.
