Can someone advise me if there is a tablet or a ipad that you can fit a battery in it when it is unable to hold its charge,I have the Tesco Hudl and I am very pleased with it for the price I paid for it but when I phoned their helpline regarding this issue they told me at the moment they have no plans for parts and batteries. So I suppose after a couple of years it will be ready for the bin it would be nice if one could fit a battery just like a laptop.

The Hudl can be opened as shown here http://www.modaco.com/topic/365803-whos-game-to-do-a-tear-down/ and it is likely that 3rd party replacement batteries will become available in time.

As a market sector, most tablets have not reached the end of their rechargable lives yet, so there's no real demand for replacement parts - anyway, these parts are often specialist - they are not universal sizes like those of mobile phone batteries. I also understand they have to be matched to the onboard charging logic. There is a maker industry to replace ipod and iphone batteries, but that's because these are expensive devices to replace - and the batteries are not that cheap either. Generic Chineses tablets like the Hudl will get ever cheaper so, is a new battery cheaper and less hassle than buying a brand new tablet?

Whilst I accept it's not a true tablet it's possible to get replacement batteries for a kindle and there are a number of youtube videos on how to change them so I can't see why they can't do the same for tablets unless of course the battery is soldered in ?

I have several tablets, some have the battery on a plug, others need to be soldered to the mb. Depends on whether the manuf. wanted to save a few p per tablet.
But most are replaceable. I have upgraded batteries before now for more battery life etc.
