Tablet PC

A friend of mine seems to think I know a lot about computers and has asked me about what is the best cheap Tablet?  I do not know anything about Tablet PCs. The only person I know with a Tablet has a iPad and this other friend does not want that as too expensive.
So any suggestions folks?

@jmdlp
I've read a lot of good things about the Samsung 10.1" Galaxy tab.  It seems to be a good contender for the iPad/iPad2 and it starts at £399 I believe.

Re: Tablet PC

i have an archos android 7" internet tablet that is about the size of a regular paperback and brilliant for reading books and playing games.  i find the 10" screens too unwieldy.  this size is just right.  at around £135, it's not bad value for money.

Re: Tablet PC

I've got the Advent Vega which cost £199. Out of the box it's not a bad tablet however if you look on http://tabletroms.com/forums/vega-rom-development/ there is a very nice version of Android 3.2 (honeycomb) which works a treat and is pretty easy to install. I think if your friend is sticking to the budget end of the market it's one of the best around.

Thank you for those suggestions - I will pass them on.  She will be using the tablet mainly for internet browsing/emails.

What a waste!
I have used a tablet since 2004 (yes really - Widows XP tablet edition then Win 7) the handwriting recognition using a stylus in Windows tablets is superb.
As an 80% read 20% write device Windows tablets are excellent.  Apple iPad and their ilk are only 99% read 1% write capable.

Re: Tablet PC

You do not find many Windows tablets at a reasonable price.  Mostly they are "android".
Apparently Carphone Warehouse may be getting some more HP Tablets in at same price in a month so she may wait and see!
