No that wasn't a spelling mistake, it's a programme coming to BBC 4 later this year.

Unfortunately I was 6 by the end of the 80's, but this programme is going to dramatize the battle between the spectrum and BBC micro which some of you guys out there might remember. Not that you're old or anything 
Martin Freeman from The Office and Alexander Armstrong of Armstrong & Miller fame are enough to get me at least interested in giving it a watch. How about yourselves?

Many of us are certainly old enough unfortunately. I also had some BBC Model 'B's.

I had an Acorn Electron.. aka cheap B.

I did have a Commodore Amiga 1200.
Another one that was basically a tape player but I can't remember what that was called.

OK....I had a ZX81....with a 16k Ram Pack
...and I've still got it.

I have A UK101 http://www.gifford.co.uk/~coredump/uk101.htm and an Atmos http://www.48katmos.freeuk.com/whatisan.htm and an old drum type printer all still in working order, plus a printer for the Atmos that take four ball point pens

I got the BBC 'B' along a long path from Nascom1 ----->  Nascom 2 --------> Amstrad 1640 (with TWO floppy drives!) ------->  Model 'B'
With a couple of colleagues even got it to support a HUGE 10Mbyte Hard Drive via a Home Brew interface on the TUBE and a much bastardised CPM Disk Driver software in Sideways ROM / RAM.  
Ain't life easy with PC's these days.  
I guess that with the perceived Technical skills of the presenters, I'll give the prog. a miss.

I never succumbed to the Beeb PC - mainly as it had a 6502 processor and I had leant Z80 code on my Nascom 2 - adding a CP/M floopy system later.
Before that I had built the Wireless World computer in 1979 ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PSI_Comp_80_(computer) ) in the company lab.
Then first PC was the Amstrad 6128

I learned Z80 code on the ZX81but the Beeb had so much software available.

Ah, another nostalgia thread  ;D. I started on a Commodore VIC20, which had 3.5KB RAM. Yes, that's 3.5KB. Software was initially loaded by typing in the BASIC code line by line, usually copied from a magazine. We then bought a cassette tape drive, which would still take a few minutes even to load 3.5KB.

Ah Yes I remember it well
My first IBM Type desk top had a massive big Hard disk, all 25Mb of it, and it ran Autoroute and spreadsheet and word processing

Autoroute.....that got everywhere.
I'm sure it would run on an Abacus
