Stop all in coming call.

How do I stop all incoming calls with out using a answering machine. Like having the phone turned off. I don't want out calls stopped.

Re: Stop all in coming call.

Some phones have volume control for the ringer which may have a silent setting.  That wouldn't stop incoming calls, but you wouldn't hear them!

Re: Stop all in coming call.

Phones fitted with BT Call Guardian, such as the 8600 have a 'Do Not Disturb' setting that can be permanently switched on. Callers will be diverted to the built in answering machine but the operation will be silent and the occasional touch of the 'delete all messages' button will get rid of these messages without you having to hear them.

If it's a mobile, see if it has time block. Mine is set. 10pm to 6am silent every day. There is always divert direct to voicemail.

How many out going calls do you make in a day ?

If it's no more than 2 or 3 I would simply unplug the phone from the socket.

Or you could simply leave the handset off the phone......although I do not think BT are keen on customers doing that.

Re: Stop all in coming call.

The reason why I want the phone turned off is to stop my nasty sly brother phoning me up. I got a new mobile phone now, he hasn't got the number. If I don't answer the phone he will say YOU  don't answer it. Take it off the hook he say YOU got it off the hook. But if it is turned off, I didn't know that, must be a fault somewhere.

To be honest @Bristolman it won’t take your brother long to realise that you can’t have a faulty line indefinitely. As you don’t want incoming calls then I’d suggest you try to get your number changed to a new ex directory one and don’t give it out.

After about 5 mins a loud siren starts to play out from the phone handset.

Just unplug the phone. That's what i'd do. Plug it in when needed.

I need a new signature... i'm bored of the old one!
