What is this Steam thing - I'm not a games player, but I know someone who is (on Xubuntu).

Instead of buying a cd of a game, you can download it from stream (real version not pirate) and get updates etc, but like you I don't use it.

Re: Steam comes to linux before xmas

I like Steam. I ended up re-purchasing some older games on Steam (during the summer sale) that I already owned on CD/DVD simply for the convenience. No need to muck around putting the disc in the drive to play.
It will be interesting to see how much is available on Linux and how they are going to achieve it (new binaries or a WINE implementation).

Re: Steam comes to linux before xmas

ow cx you know most games work in Linux as it is anyway?
but with valve supporting Linux it makes things that bit easier... I can play most games using wine but it can be awkward to set-up at best of times... ive played everquest 2 ect using Linux also
