Squirrel web mail is very slow

Hi, is there any reason why my web mail for plus net via squirrel is painfully slow?
i use squirrel on various differnt servers, they all function very quckly, but with plusnet web mal, its just horribley slow, can take upto a minute sometimes to delete a mail.
also is there any reason why the spam filter doesnt function?
regards J

Re: Squirrel web mail is very slow

If you've got a lot of spam emails in there it would be very slow, have you cleared them out?
Do you use folders? Organising the mail you want to keep in to separate folders instead of leaving it in the inbox will speed things up.
You might also like to consider using an email client in IMAP mode (I use Thunderbird) when you are at your normal PC and only use Webmail when out and about. It will keep all mail in sync (including sent items) with Webmail.

Re: Squirrel web mail is very slow

hey Jelv.
i dont have many emails in there, im just confused to why my squirrel on other servers is lightning fast and this one is like a snail, almost to the point of me not bothering using it as its too frustarting. i might aswell migrate my domain elsewhere and use a fast one, as this is near unusable.
in which case id be closing my plusnet account alltogether and going for an alternative isp, think im getting charged to much anyway, especially after about 7 years of loyalty and getting rewarded with absolutly nothing
cheers

Re: Squirrel web mail is very slow

My own experience of squirrel I reported long ago as being painfully slow.
At the time I was invited to go over to a beta version of something else which I can't remember the name of but when it folded I had to return to this worst ever webmail service.
I am slowly but surely changing over  much of my webmail activity to another service elsewhere.
Unfortunately, this causes other problems like letting all your recipients know of one's new address and having to go back daily anyway to see if there is mail in there which I need to see.
I have yet to find out why squirrel is so slow...it should really be called snail.

Re: Squirrel web mail is very slow

Huh
Please elucidate, I can't see anything you've said that is a reason why you can't use Thunderbird in IMAP mode with your current Plusnet mailboxes.

If you mean for me to explain........
Yes sorry, I misunderstood pierre's gist.
I have Thunderbird and can use it to get all other mail inboxes but I need a little time to get the hang of it...It's my age, you know!

Re: Squirrel web mail is very slow

Using IMAP on Thunderbird is great. You have the speed of access, yet when you are away from home and have to use webmail you have all your posts, including copies of all your sent items. One thing I find really cool is that you can move emails from one mailbox to another (without resorting to forwarding them).

Re: Squirrel web mail is very slow

and I have a mixed one, my e-mails are on POP3, but SWMBO, who is not computer literate, I check via IMAP and delete the dangerous ones, then she gets them via POP3 on a netbook with OE.  All PN to my base username but different prefixes
