Spot the deliberate mistake

I went on Live Chat, to day... at about 17:30 G.M.T.  after the third attempt which started at 1832 G.M.T.  I got a copy of the chat via email....
here is the header...

You were connected to the New York office - you didn't know they had one did you

Would that be in the West Riding, then  ? ?

EST = Eastern Standard Time.
The system they use for Chat is based in the Good ol' US of A...

I'd never spotted that before - just looked at a saved chat email and yes it's EST!

Ah.. now then... given the reply about Eastern Standard Time... NEW    York office , must be in the East Riding, then

No goddam fear matey!
York is still in the old County of York & Ainsty, not in any of the Ridings!  
Although my village is in the North Riding.

I know York, very well,  I was born there...
Just thought that NEW York, would be in the East Riding, because of the time zone ! . Mind you,... Either one is not that far away from Sheffield ! ! .
