I am using smart technology and my spin up time keeps decreasing,my t.e.c. date is march next year,its still well over its threshold at the moment,my query is this is a new pc ive just bought before christmas so should i be worried about this?dont fancy my pc going on me not even before its a year old?

How can your spin-up time keep decreasing - as in taking less and less time?

Yes sorry its decreasing yes,threshhold is 24,value is 106 worst is 106 but it was up at 108 a couple days ago so yes its degrading

I think you mean it's taking longer to spin up - in seconds!
You need to find out how these values correspond with the actual spin-up times (in seconds).
As an example,
This was taken from a Linux machine, but the spin-up time will always be SMART ID# 3
Although these numbers look scary, my disk passed without error.
I would guess that the raw values for ID #9 and #12 are reasonable...

its the value that keeps decreasing,it was at 108 just a few days ago,heres a screen shot,thanks for your help,its either in mms or sec it doesnt really say.

I wouldn't worry about it until you have a good couple of months 'usage' against the drive. The predicted T.E.C. (Threshold Exceed Condition) will be much more "accurate" after that.
If it's still reporting a similar date after then, I'm not sure that there is much you can do about it. You can contact the manufacturer, but if the failure date is outside their warranty period, then you may not make much headway.
However, some manufacturers will likely want to get a drive back to QA, so they may be amenable to replacing it.

Thanks barry,yes my warranty will be finished by then,if this pc fails on me so young its the last time i buy i spanking new pc,i will wait and see how it goes.
