Just updated smartdefrag today to 3.2 and its installer is really starting to get annoying with all the crap it wants to install. So just a heads up as ever with installers, never choose express install always custom, they hide extra browser tools/forced search engine changes if not.

Considering M/S has their own version built in to both 7 / 8 then I would say yes
Unless you have a SSD as you will degrade the life of the SSD by defraging it

@dvorak if the windows defrag was any good I wouldn't, I used to use diskeeper until they started forced new build versions at a price and settled on smartdefrag which works better than the windows tool. Just that Iobit have an annoying installer with hidden rubbish since version 2.3ish
