Slow POST sorted.

For a few days now my PC has been sticking on the POST screen for 2-3 minutes before finally starting.
This usually occurred when I came home in the evening and fired it up.
I finally cracked the problem this evening....
My daughter was leaving her iPod Nano plugged into a USB port when she shut down the PC.
I removed the iPod and away it went.
Tried a shutdown and startup and it's fine.
Don't know if this has been mentioned before as the forum search is no good for......searching the forum Sad

I very much doubt it unless it's their first time.

Re: Slow POST sorted.

I've tried that and it is totally and utterly useless as a forum search.

Re: Slow POST sorted.

Doesn't offer useful enough functionality.
Can't see enough of the posts in the results to tell me if its the post I want, and can't order the results how I'd like either.
Google weighting might work OK on the web, but on a forum discussing changing configurations/options etc, its fairly important to know you've located the most recent advice on a matter.

Re: Slow POST sorted.

I'll concur with that.
Giving more 'context' to the search results, and allowing the posting date to carry more 'weight' with the relevance would actually make it much more useful.

You can't search by user.

Re: Slow POST sorted.

I wonder if there are any plans to fix this search in the future or replace the button with something useful. Undecided

Re: Slow POST sorted.

Colin has been trying to fix the search, but we've distracted him with the new skin.  When ever we remind him about the search, he swears a lot.

Re: Slow POST sorted.

I've only ever heard Colin swear once.  him swearing "lots" is quite a scary prospect.
