Size of text box in the messages (help & support)

Can any web designer, explain.... Why, whenever there is a requirement for the customer to send a message to the support team, (not just plusnet) the box provided for the response is less than adequate in size?
I mean, why is the text box on our support pages, only half the width of the available page space...... there is nothing alongside it, the space is there.  You don`t need planning permission to use it, it doesn`t cost any more to use it.....
I have just produced a spreadsheet of figures for  my speed problem, and it does not fit into the space provided. (it may do at the other end) but if I needed to check it, the display is all wrong.
This forum box is adequate, and it is easy to check the message as being sent, instead of looking through a key hole.....
Any chance of making the "important" boxes large enough to be of some use?

Re: Size of text box in the messages (help & support)

I suspect the box is optimised for either 800x600 or 1024x768 display, and I'm guessing that your screen is a bit bigger than that.

Re: Size of text box in the messages (help & support)

Don`t be daft......... I have a 15" laptop, and even if I did have a 5foot square screen, the box would appear proportionately larger Roll_eyes
The box is in the left half of the page, the right half of the page is empty.....  Undecided
By your response, half the page would not be viewable on "normal" screens. ! ! !
Edit>>................  I suspect you have never had to use the "my messages" response box ? on the help & support page.....

note that the reply box isn't resizeable either as you alter the window width

Re: Size of text box in the messages (help & support)

so the larger the screen/page, the smaller the box "appears" to be?  Roll_eyes

Re: Size of text box in the messages (help & support)

That's the same form that comes up when you ask for an upgrade to MAX. That could do with being changed too so that the process is more relevant from the customer's point of view.
I thought I would let you know while you're on the subject anyway.

Re: Size of text box in the messages (help & support)

Thank you for the change (to come)...  Wink
I`m sure it will be appreciated by more than just myself....  Smiley
Could you explain why it was (and is) made that size in the first place?.....  Huh
Is it difficult to re-size it?  Huh

I have the same issue with my bank "log in" page.....
They have a box for inserting a customer number, and the text size is about font size 8.
I have messaged them about it, and they respond saying my browser needs adjusting ! !...
Somehow I don`t think so....  Roll_eyes
if I could adjust the size of font to 14 , it would be too large for the size of box provided !  Cheesy

I think that you have misinterpreted Colin's comment, he means change it when his current project goes live, not instantly.
