Silence following procedure

Yesterday I replaced the SDRAM cards on my Windows XP  desktop to 1 Gb total, and after going haywire and several restarts it is now much quicker, but I have lost the sound. The settings appear OK, I'm wondering if anyone knows what might be the cause. I can hear no windows dafault or video noises etc

Presumably, you have checked your speaker icon is NOT muted ! ?  Roll_eyes

Re: Silence following procedure

I don't have a speaker icon in the system tray but I went to Sounds in the Control Panel and Mute is unchecked.

Re: Silence following procedure

You aren't going to like this - did you perhaps dislodge the wire to the speaker connection

Re: Silence following procedure

You are right: I was hoping someone was not going to suggest that. I will take a look tomorrow.

Re: Silence following procedure

Well I've taken a look, swopped the audio plug around (to a plug that looks exactly the same to me) and the sound is back on. Thank you.
