Should i Downgrade when i move ?

Hi, ive recently submitted a move on plusnet to a house only 3 streets away from where im living now. At the moment im currenclty getting a consistant 57mb fibre but have been told the estimated speed of the new house will be 46mb....which is making me wonder its not worth downgrading from Unlimited Fibre Extra to Unlimited Fibre normal of 38mb as it barely seems worth paying extra for 8mb difference ?
How accurate is the 46mb ? i was estimated here by plusnet id get 78mb and i only got 57mb
let me know on this please id really appreciate it.

You can do it either way but changing in the first month would only get you an extra months contract so "suck it and see" would be my advice

i think ill stay on fibre extra anyway, a friend of mine just put it in perspective saying im questioning if 8mb is worth a fivers difference while he can only get 6mb internet where he lives !!

How often are you doing such large downloads, or downloading many things at the same time that a small difference in speed will make a difference?
Also, if you sync above 40Mbps, on Unlimited Fibre normal you will actually get the full speed you are paying for.

yeah i understand what you are saying mate, thats why i asked about downgrading as i doubt ill be able to once ive moved as im assuming ill be in contract.
I do download and upload quite a lot though as i work from home as a web designer, if i was living alone im sure 40mb would do fine but as soon as my son gets on his games and skyping im worried it will affect me, with my curent 58mb its been fine but im hoping the drop of 8-10mb wont make a huge difference

Re: Should i Downgrade when i move ?

Skyping might use 3 or 4Mb if he does video calls. Playing games might use 1 Mb (downloading updates obviously more). If your web design work involves uploading and downloading hundreds of huge video or image files there might be a point in the faster speeds.
Remember for years people have been doing what you describe on 8Mb connections!
