In the past I've used http://www.cbfsms.com/ but at times your message can take a time to send when their system is busy.
Also if you are an O2 customer you get 10 free texts a month to use from their website.

I'm sure Orange let you send free messages from their website too.
Alternatively, you can connect your mobile to your PC (via cable, Bluetooth or IRDA) and use the SMS function included in your mobile's software package.
eg. Nokia PCSuite allows you to compose messages on screen, and send them via your mobile.

Hello,
I use Fabit email-to-SMS. It is an add-on for Microsoft Outlook that uses the Outlook contact list for telephone numbers. It can be found at http://www.fabit.com/mobile/default.asp .
One drawback that I have found; Fabit works to mobiles only. It doesn't have the interface necessary to send SMS text to landlines.
