Re: Sagem 2704N connection problems with my Sky+ connector and Three's HomeSignal bo

Hi alhenderson, are you giving the Skybox a fixed IP address on the LAN?  Use http://192.168.1.254/expert_user.html to login. Are you on Fibre or ADS:L? That Sky help page information is not applicable to a Plusnet connection. The modulation is PPPoE on Fibre and PPPoA on ADSL and in any event can't be changed on the 2704n.

Re: Sagem 2704N connection problems with my Sky+ connector and Three's HomeSignal bo

I've yet to find a way of setting a static IP through the 2704, even with the expert pages - am I missing something?  I'm on fibre..

Re: Sagem 2704N connection problems with my Sky+ connector and Three's HomeSignal bo

Hi, I'll need to reconfigure my 2704n to Fibre to double check as it's currently in ADSL mode - this I won't be able to do until later, but I might be able to point someone else using theirs on Fibre to double check - but if it's the same goto >Advanced Setup >LAN
See the attached screen grab I took a while ago, but also note that the 2nd IP address is not part of the default settings and is something I've added whilst experimenting.

Right enough, there is a button for setting up static IP. Need to find out the sky box's MAC address first.. I'll give that a go.
Cheers,

When the device is connected, you should be able to find it on the >Device Info  >DHCP or >ARP tabs.
See attached screen grabs.

Thanks for that. Interesting that those screens show more devices than the 'My Home Network' screen on the main interface. Was getting annoyed by that screen missing several devices.

Well well, I can see I need to investigate this a bit more and take up a few issues with Plusnet.

Just to prove I'm not going barmy, attached are two screen shots, one of the My Home Network page showing a single device, and one from the expert page showing everything else.  The My Home Network page sometimes also shows a few WiFi devices, but not all of them.  Bizarre.

The following may be of some interest, I haven't followed through the detail on all of it -

Just some of the things I quickly managed to dig out. Have a read through, you might find things and links that may help solve all the issues.
Beware playing with firmware, unless you know what you are doing. There's always a small risk of bricking it.

Re: Sagem 2704N connection problems with my Sky+ connector and Three's HomeSignal bo

Thanks for those, there's a lot of chat about this router!  I set up my Sky box last night with a static IP, turned it on this morning and I think its got the same IP, but the MAC address listed on the router devices page is different!  Makes me wonder if it is indeed doing static IP?

Re: Sagem 2704N connection problems with my Sky+ connector and Three's HomeSignal bo

Just tried on demand again from the sky box and the same problem, looks like static IP hasn't solved it  Sad Oddly, the DHCP page on the router shows an 'expires' time of 23 hrs 59 mins, suggesting that the box has just connected.  Surely a lease on a static IP should not expire?

Re: Sagem 2704N connection problems with my Sky+ connector and Three's HomeSignal bo

It shouldn't, but in amongst those threads I listed, there were mention of the problems associated with when the device was "unknown". This perhaps might be the root cause.
Edit:  I note the OP of the thread hasn't posted back, I wonder if they solved their issue? If so, their info may be helpful.

Re: Sagem 2704N connection problems with my Sky+ connector and Three's HomeSignal bo

Last night I nicked a powerline adaptor from elsewhere to try with the sky box, and it appears to have been a lot more solid.  Can still access OnDemand 24 hrs later with no issues.  I tweeted PlusNet support and they suggested changing the WiFi channel.  Not sure what that would achieve, think they may just be following a generic troubleshooting checklist of some sort.  If I get a chance I will try that and see what happens.

Sounds like a typical case of failing to understand the problem and yes, just following a crib sheet
I seem to recall some similar issue like this involving powerline adapters, I'll see if I can quickly find anything.

Re: Sagem 2704N connection problems with my Sky+ connector and Three's HomeSignal bo

I can't find what I thought I'd seen at present, which specific model(s) of Powerline are you using? Someone else using the same ones may have some ideas.
