SSDs can be very good, but can also be very bad! The first generation ones were prone to huge slowdowns once all the bits had been written to at least once. Look up the infamous Jmicron 602 controller. I had one of those in my work PC for a while. After a few months it would frequently grind to a halt with 100% disk activity. I replaced it with a WD Velociraptor in the end,which has proved more reliable. Newer SSDs should have addressed those particular the issues, but still some are better than others, and you'll pay quite a lot for a good one.

I have had one for several months now and cannot praise it enough.
I have windows 7 installed on it and from pressing the "on" button on my pc I can be surfing the net within 20 seconds!
I have a larger regular hdd to store all my photos and some games etc as my ssd is only 60gb but it works well.
Mine is a Corsair F60 which cost me £130 at the time , but mine and other decent ones such as the OCZ vertex 2 and the Crucial C300  can be had for under £100 now.
