SMTP Error failure

using thunderbird keeps asking to add my password - which I keeping doing and it keeps saying failure

using webmail.plus.net  it also says smtp error failure

Is this something my end or with plus.net ?

If just seems to be on one account not the others

I'm receiving emails no problems at all, I just cannot send them - so it's not a password problem

Thunderbird assumes that a connection failure to the SMTP server must be because you used a bad password.

It doesn't distinguish between a long standing problem with Plusnet email and an authentication failure.
