Removing Ubuntu in Dual Boot

What's the best way to go about this when Ubuntu has it's own partitioned space to sort the boot loader? Not going off Linux I tried it on my lappy to see what performance was like on the oldish machine but I only have 40gig on there and I need the space.  I can't remove the XP because its the only Windows machine I have left and I need it have Sage accounting software not currently supported by Linux. I know I could try Wine or the like but it's not worth experimenting with too important.

the way i would do it is use the likes of easeus partition master to delete the linux partion and at same time get easues to expand the partion your xp is on to use the old linux partion.
which boot loader are you using, linux's grub boot loader or windows?. if you have boot problems after removing linux then just whack your xp disc in and go to the repair options and this will auto fix the windows boot loader.
am sure the true linux fanboy's will say whack g-parted on a stick or cd and use that instead of easeus running in xp

Quickest "dirty" way is to boot XP and run, "fdisk /mbr"
Viola no Grub anymore. then recover the space using M$ tools.

Yep I'd agree with Hairy Biker, that's how I've done it in the past and it worked ok.

Yes, in Vista it is disk  > safe mode with command prompt > BootRec.exe/ FixMbr > return and that's it.
As HB said, command slightly different in XP.
All you have to do then is delete the partition and all done.

Be careful with deleting partitions!
Windows <spit> has a complicated method of allocating a drive letter.
This drive letter is hard-coded in the registry.
It is quite possible to completely link:censored things up, even though you haven't touched any Windows data.

I'm getting on well with it still on 9.10 at the moment, I have downloaded 10.04 but as my other 3 Linux systems are all in working environments I'm hanging back a little longer for the moment probably going to swap my home desktop first and see how that goes.

Will I be able to boot into xp using just recovery discs? I think they're just an image of the hard drive from new system by symantec ghost?
Why "dirty" does it leave behind problems?

"Dirty" because it uses the M$ tools 
No really it is the way the M$ does it if you install any of its OS's on a machine with a working OS on it, it tramples all over the mbr and removes grub/lilo etc.
There are no problems doing it this way.

Unless your partition info in the boot record is set up with partition 2 coming before partition 1 etc
I wonder if M$ can cope with that?

I don't think it cares it just steam rollers over the top.
