Recover deleted email account

OK, so I have been an idiot.
Wanting to now use Outlook instead of Windows Live Mail I set up the first of a few email addresses on Outlook. When I was happy that this was working I needed to stop Live Mail handling this particular account. Instead of stopping it, I deleted it hence not only will Live Mail now not retrieve email from this account, which is what I wanted, but all the mail in that folder has gone. Does anyone know if it is recoverable, I dont see it in the rubbish bin.
Many thanks from a complete idiot

Re: Recover deleted email account

It depends on where the email account is hosted, Live Mail will talk to almost anything but in different ways as appropriate.
e.g. Hotmail accounts will still be there with all their folders, other services may well not retain them.
Which email service is it?

Re: Recover deleted email account

Sorry, in my panic I did not make it clear.
All the emails lost were stored locally on my computer after being downloaded and deleted from plus nets server. It is the local account in Live Mail that I have deleted and hence the local copies. I am wondering if they still exisit somewhere on my local machine.
Still a panic stricken idiot - hope this clarifies

You *might* have a chance of finding the original folder, but don't get your hopes up too high. What version of Windows are you running?

Re: Recover deleted email account

You might well need some specialised file recovery software that can find and recover deleted files (that are not in your recycle bin).  This is best done with the aid of a second computer, ideally by someone who knows what they are about, so you might want to consult a computer professional if you are prepared to pay some money to recover your emails.  Possibly a couple of hour's work would be involved.

If you don't leave it too long there is a very good chance that your emails could be recovered.  I do this sort of thing frequently because it is part of my job, but I use commercial data recovery software that isn't free and to prevent the risk of accidentally overwriting the missing data, I mount the hard drive on another computer.
