Re: Recording TV programs online

Both the Above are ok unlless you live where my sister does, South side of Bury St Edmunds Ridge, Choice of terrestrial stations, Talcneston, over the ridge, Sudbury, line of large trees in the way, OK in the Winter, useless in the summer for Digital, can get bbc1, bbc2, ITV1, 4 and 5 analogue, not the set of !TV, or 4 channels (itv1,2,3,4 etc) but yes to 5 on digital.  FreeView on sky, - some of the terrestial freeview are payfor on Sky, Both Sister and Hubby, techno idiots, had all the leads plugged into wrong sockets on new DVD/pvr made it a nightmare to record from sky, tried to plug in my portable PVR to the AV3 socket, overlaid onto sky.
Got in trouble last time I went - what have you done with our recorder - well nothing actually, hadnt even turned it on.  so left well alone, but this time put the manual on the table open to the page which showed which wire went into which socket, beat hasty retreat oh what a happy ten days baby sitting mum.

Re: Recording TV programs online

Not as such Axis, but you can copy the programmes onto a recordable DVD (I will admit that you can only do it in real time, which is a pain) Sad

Re: Recording TV programs online

The reason I ask about backups is that when my normal TV died and I was forced to buy a digital TV, I paid extra to buy a DVD recorder instead of a PVR because of reasons of portability of recorded programs.
I gained incidentally because the DVD has it's own decoder, so I can watch one channel and record on a second one.

Re: Recording TV programs online

my sister has a recordable DVD with PVR and tuner, AV2 takes output from Murdoc and can record it whilst you watch terrestrial Freeview on its tuner, or Analogue on the TV, it also has AV3 for input from PC, mind you when baby sitting last week all the scart plugs were in the wrong holes

Need to upgrade the aerial to a wide bandwidth/digital aerial to receive these stations in that area of the country.

Re: Recording TV programs online

For most people an aerial upgrade is essential.
On analogue, a weak signal or some interference gives you a watchable picture (perhaps with some "snow").
With digital, you will be lucky to get anything - borderline gives a badly pixelated picture.

Re: Recording TV programs online

In TV setup etc I found it totally baffling - worse than setting a video recorder!
It seems that the are several transmitters picked up by my highly directional aerial  Crazy
I automatically get a bunch of channels from each of several transmitters.
Well that's how it seems to be anyway.
I haven't a clue what a "mux" is in this connection.
BTW I get all the channels - including about 20 shopping channels.

Re: Recording TV programs online

its not up to date but this is list I once made up, on my tv tuning I can check the signal, quality and channel number of each program (pdf)
You will see that it tuned in the rogue channels twice, numbering the second set 800 plus

Re: Recording TV programs online

I think that most of the "pay" channels have disappeared - but otherwise it's pretty accurate.
