Read Only USB hard drive problem (XP)

I formatted a USB external drive on one PC with NTFS, copied some files to it, everything works OK (read, write, delete whatever).
I move the drive to a second PC and seem to only have "Read Only" attributes ON THE DRIVE.
I've gone through the directory structure changed properties on each directory to be NOT "read only"
But still cannot write to the drive.
What do I need to do to be able to write to the drive? (From any PC)

Re: Read Only USB hard drive problem (XP)

Probably you have it set to user permissions. NTFS allows for user to be able to view (read only) files & folders so you would need to change the user permission on the drive/folder (probably)
Do you have individual users logging in to the other machine? If so that is probably the issue.
Been a long time since I played with attributes in M$ (in Linux I could tell you how to do it  ;D)
Of course if you reformat it to FAT32 the problem will go away (no support for user locking on FAT)
